If VIP runs out, I'll probably be missing a lot of stuff :(. The quarter pack should keep me busy for awhile I suppose. I'm also doing the 14 day trial and I'm maybe going to buy Helms Deep to, but later I think. Well I purchased the quarter pack and some other small pack that unlocks Gold Cap. This is a great way to get enough TP to purchase quest packs (and extra character slots, and more). The TP are account wide, so you can earn them on any server and they will all be added up.
As a F2P player, you can still unlock about everything using Turbine Points you earn ingame doing deeds. You can create 2 characters per server, so create some on different servers to test them all. I'm more into the minstrel class myself, but try some out, and see what you like best. Perhaps I am a bit easy to please, seeing that I remember a time before computers in every home (not even C64s), so I value atmosphere and gameplay above looks (although that still helps :-))
